Preferred Equine was established in 1989 by Geoff Stein and David Reid. Since its original inception Preferred Equine has grown to be the largest consignor in the standardbred industry with over 22,000 horses sold for a gross in excess of $500 million.

Using the expertise and experience gained in selling standardbreds, Preferred Equine has extended in to the thoroughbred industry offering consignments, brokering private deals, and offering tailored race management and breeding recommendations.

Preferred Equine is constantly growing and developing its thoroughbred and Bloodstock division with the hire of Austin Luttrell. Austin is from Lexington, KY and got his start in the thoroughbred industry working as an assistant trainers to Christophe Clement and Kiaran McLaughlin. Following the racetrack experience, he gained international experience working as Bloodstock consultant for Magic Millions in Australia and with John Fulton Bloodstock in Argentina. Austin returned to Kentucky to work as a manger at Denali Stud and Donamire Farm.

All of Austins experiences have given him a great overall understanding of the industry and he is excited to use that knowledge to make a positive impact for Preferred Equine and it’s clients.

Austin brings a world of ideas, innovations, experience, and vast network to the Preferred Equine Thoroughbred division.
